Crandall Public Library poster collection, 1876-1999 (bulk 1976-1999).

Posters in this collection are mainly announcements of cultural and historical events, primarily in Warren, Saratoga, and Washington Counties, especially in Glens Falls, Lake George and surrounding localities. Types of events represented include theater, music, opera, dance, sports, art, craft fairs, balloon festivals, museum exhibitions, historical commemorations, historic house tours, and fund raising events. Sponsors include museums, libraries (especially Crandall Public Library), arts organizations, schools, churches, and social service agencies. Some posters show scenes of the Adirondack Mountains. Crandall Public Library has collected the posters mainly since 1976.

Collecting of photographs by Crandall Library evidently began through the efforts of Sherman Williams, who was a founder of the New York State Historical Association and an advisor to Henry Crandall. Photographs may have been collected beginning with or near the founding of Crandall Library in 1892. Others who were influential in developing this collection were Robert C. Carter and Arthur S.
